The closest city to Hvar island with an international airport is Split.

Hvar can be reached by either catamaran or car ferry

The catamaran departs from Split ferry terminal and takes around 60 minutes to reach the city of Hvar

The car ferry departs from Split ferry terminal and takes around 2 hours to reach the ferry terminal on the island close to the city of Stari Grad

How to reach the Ferry/Catamaran

The Split ferry terminal is reachable from Split Airport by bus or by taxi. The travel time is approximately 30 minutes depending on traffic. In the summer peak season the road is often congested.

Tip: There also is a new catamaran connection between the Split airport jetty (approx. 600m from the terminal) and Split ferry terminal (travel time 15 minutes).

Please note that in the summer season it can get very busy for both the catmaran and the car ferry. We recommend to be at the ferry terminal at least 2 hours prior departure to secure a car spot on the ferry. The sole purchase of a ticket does not reserve you a spot on the ferry.

The tickets for the catamaran can be purchased with a seat reservation online.
